COVID-19 Study Participant Safety

Our safety measures in response to COVID-19 are listed here.
  • Mandatory daily symptom screening and mask wearing for all Fred Hutch staff and campus visitors, including study participants.
    • Symptom screening by study staff will be required in advance of the participant visit. A secondary screening will also occur when study participants arrive at reception.
  • Maintaining physical distancing. Only one study participant at a time may wait in the Prevention Center reception area.
  • We have rearranged reception areas to eliminate high-touch surfaces
  • All high-touch surfaces in common areas are sanitized each hour.
  • All surfaces in the Research Clinic and Exercise Research Center are sanitized between every participant visit.
  • After your exercise test you will be visiting the Human Nutrition Lab Dining Room for a snack. Seating has been rearranged to ensure physical distancing is always maintained. You will be invited to take post-procedure snacks to-go if you wish. Single-serve snacks and bottled juices will be available.
  • Prevention Center staff supporting clinical or exercise procedures where physical distancing is not possible will be wearing additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for protection of both study participants and staff.

As a reminder when visiting the Prevention Center, all campus buildings are currently accessible by badge-access only as a safety precaution to reduce non-essential traffic.

When you arrive for your appointment, please buzz for security (ext: 6000) and state that you are a study participant going to the Prevention Center for a scheduled appointment. If you are entering through the main entrance to the Arnold Building, before you enter the building, there is a security buzzer to the right of the sliding doors. If you are entering through the parking garage (on the D level), please follow the signage which will direct you to the Prevention Center, (to Level E in elevators) then follow the signs to the Prevention Center reception.
